Ingredients
– 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (can substitute ground turkey or chicken)
– 1 (1-oz or 28 g) packet taco seasoning
– 1 (10-oz or 284 g) can diced tomatoes and green chiles (undrained or drained to control moisture)
– 2 cups (about 200 g) shredded cheddar cheese (freshly shredded for best melting)
– 1 (8-oz or 237 ml) container ranch dressing (store-bought or homemade)
– Frozen phyllo tart shells, sets of 15-count (alternatives: wonton wrappers, mini pie crusts, scoop-shaped tortilla chips)
– Optional: diced jalapeños, chopped cilantro for garnish
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
Add taco seasoning and diced tomatoes with green chiles to the beef. Stir well and simmer for a few minutes.
Remove from heat and mix in shredded cheddar cheese and ranch dressing until creamy and well combined.
Spoon the mixture evenly into each phyllo tart shell or alternative shell.
Place on the baking sheet, leaving some space between each bite.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the cheese melts and shells crisp (if baking from frozen, bake 10 to 12 minutes).
Remove from oven, cool slightly, and serve with optional fresh toppings or dipping sauces.
