Description

πŸ” Enjoy the best of both worlds with these delicious Open-Faced Pizza Burgers, combining juicy burgers and classic pizza flavors.
πŸ• This recipe is perfect for a quick, satisfying meal that brings family and friends together with ease.

Ingredients

Scale

6 frozen hamburger patties (4 ounces each) or 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup pizza or pasta sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese (part-skim or whole milk)
1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley, crushed
Optional additions: 1/4 cup chopped yellow onion
Optional additions: 1 can (4 ounces) drained mushroom stems and pieces
6 hamburger buns (white, pretzel, wheat, or slider-sized if preferred)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C) and position the rack in the center. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or use a pan with sides to catch juices.
2. If using frozen patties, arrange them evenly on the pan. Bake for 15 minutes, flip, and bake another 5 minutes.
3. If using ground beef, cook it with onions in a skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until no longer pink, then drain excess fat.
4. For ground beef version, stir in pizza sauce, mushrooms (if using), sugar (about 1 tablespoon, optional), and 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano. Mix well and spoon mixture onto toasted buns.
5. For frozen patties, drain excess juices after baking, season with salt and pepper. Spread pizza sauce over each patty, then top with mozzarella, garlic powder, oregano, and parsley.
6. Return patties or assembled buns to the oven for 5 minutes or until cheese melts. Broil for 30-60 seconds for browned top if desired.
7. Serve immediately on buns, or enjoy as open-faced pizza burgers.

Notes

🌿 Crush dried herbs in your hand before sprinkling to release more flavor.
🌢 Add crushed red pepper flakes during the last bake for a spicy kick.
πŸ§€ Stuff mozzarella inside beef patties before cooking for extra cheesiness.
