Description

🍅 Experience the fresh, vibrant flavors of authentic Mexican cuisine with this easy-to-make Pico de Gallo recipe.
🌿 Enjoy a healthy, versatile salsa that enhances tacos, burritos, nachos, and more with simple, fresh ingredients.

Ingredients

– 1 pound diced Roma or garden tomatoes for juicy base and natural sweetness

– Half a medium white onion (about 1 cup chopped) for sharp and crisp flavor

– 1 seeded and finely minced jalapeno pepper (optional) for spicy kick

– Half a cup chopped cilantro for fresh, herbal note

– 2 tablespoons lime juice (from one lime) to enhance acidity and brightness

– Half a teaspoon salt (or to taste) to balance and elevate flavors

– One-eighth teaspoon black pepper for subtle depth

Instructions

1-Start by washing all the fresh produce under cold water to remove any dirt, setting the stage for a clean and safe preparation.

2-Next, dice the 1 pound of ripe tomatoes into small, even pieces to ensure great texture and flavor distribution.

3-Finely chop half a medium white onion and the optional seeded jalapeno, then mix them with half a cup of chopped cilantro in a bowl for that fresh base.

4-Stir in 2 tablespoons of lime juice from one lime to add brightness and acidity.

5-Season the mix with half a teaspoon of salt and one-eighth teaspoon of black pepper, adjusting to your taste.

6-Let the Pico De Gallo rest in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes, as this allows the tomatoes to release their juices and the flavors to blend more deeply for a tastier result.

7-You can enjoy it right away or chill it for up to a day to enhance the taste even further.

Notes

🌶 When handling jalapeno or other hot peppers, cover your hands with plastic or use disposable gloves to avoid irritation.
🕒 For best flavor, let the salsa rest in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving.
🥗 You can customize this recipe by adding fresh fruits or vegetables like bell peppers, corn, avocado, cucumber, mango, or peaches.
