🍫 Enjoy the perfect combination of rich chocolate cookie dough and creamy filling that will satisfy any chocolate craving
Ingredients
– 12 teaspoons chocolate hazelnut spread
– 115 grams unsalted butter at room temperature
– 90 grams brown sugar
– 50 grams granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 large egg
– 140 grams plain or all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
– 1 teaspoon cornflour or cornstarch
– 40 grams cocoa powder
– 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
1-First, place 12 teaspoons of chocolate hazelnut spread on a parchment-lined tray, space them out, and freeze for at least 30 minutes to make them easy to handle later. This trick keeps the filling gooey inside the cookie without melting too soon.
2-Next, line two baking trays with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) for a standard oven or 160°C (320°F) if it’s fan-forced. In a bowl, beat the 115 grams of unsalted butter, 90 grams of brown sugar, and 50 grams of granulated sugar on medium speed until they’re well combined and creamy. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 large egg, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
3-Now, stir in 140 grams of plain or all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of cornflour or cornstarch, and 40 grams of cocoa powder until you have a nice chocolate dough. If the dough seems dry, mix in 1 tablespoon of milk to get it just right. Remove the frozen filling portions, flatten tablespoon-sized pieces of dough, place a frozen ball on each, then wrap the dough around to seal it up, rolling into balls before placing on the trays.
4-Bake for about 10 minutes, then let them cool on a wire rack these cookies are best enjoyed warm, perhaps with a glass of milk for the ultimate treat.
Notes
🧊 Refrigerate the dough if it’s too sticky to shape for easier handling
🧂 Add 1/4 teaspoon salt for better flavor balance in the chocolate cookies
❄️ Use multiple trays to freeze the filling portions and keep them frozen longer during assembly
