π₯ Enjoy a savory and filling low-carb bacon cheeseburger casserole thatβs perfect for quick meals.
π§ This recipe combines rich flavors with simple ingredients to create a hearty dish anyone will love.
Ingredients
β 1/2 pound bacon, diced
β 1 pound ground beef
β 1/2 onion, diced
β 1 clove garlic, minced
β 4 tablespoons cream cheese
β 2 tablespoons no sugar added ketchup
β 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
β 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
β 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
β 4 large eggs
β 1/4 cup heavy cream
β 1 teaspoon hot sauce
β 1 teaspoon ground pepper
β 8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
β 1 teaspoon fresh dill
Instructions
1-Preparing the Ingredients: First things first β letβs prep our ingredients! Dice your bacon into small, bite-sized pieces and set aside. Then dice your onion and mince your garlic clove. Having everything ready to go will make the cooking process so much smoother and more enjoyable.
2-Cooking the Bacon: Grab a large skillet and place it over medium heat. Add your diced bacon and cook until it reaches that perfect crispy texture we all love. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes. Once crispy, remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and place it on paper towels to drain. But donβt clean that skillet yet β weβll use those wonderful bacon drippings to flavor our beef!
3-Browning the Beef: In the same skillet, add your ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic. Cook everything together, breaking up the beef with your spoon as it cooks. Continue until the beef is nicely browned and the onions have softened and become translucent. This should take about 8-10 minutes. Once done, drain any excess fat from the skillet to keep things from getting too greasy.
4-Adding the Flavor Builders: Reduce the heat to low and letβs start building flavor! Stir in the cream cheese, no sugar added ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoned salt. Continue stirring until everything is well combined and the cream cheese has melted into a creamy sauce that coats the beef mixture beautifully.
5-Assembling the Casserole: Take your beef mixture and spread it evenly into a greased 8Γ8 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the crispy bacon we cooked earlier evenly over the top of the beef mixture. This layering technique ensures every single bite gets that perfect bacon flavor!
6-Preparing the Egg Mixture: In a separate bowl, whisk together the 4 large eggs, heavy cream, hot sauce, and ground pepper until smooth and well combined. This egg mixture is going to be the binding agent that holds our casserole together, while keeping it moist and delicious.
7-Bringing It All Together: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the beef and bacon in your baking dish. Then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. This is the layer that will become beautifully golden and bubbly as it bakes β so satisfying!
8-Baking to Perfection: Place your casserole in a preheated 350Β°F (175Β°C) oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. Youβll know itβs done when the casserole is set (no jiggling in the center!) and the top is a gorgeous golden brown. Your kitchen will smell absolutely amazing during this time!
9-The Final Touches: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for about 15 minutes. This resting time is important as it allows the casserole to set up properly, making it easier to cut and serve. Just before serving, sprinkle with fresh dill for a beautiful pop of color and a hint of freshness that brightens all the rich flavors.
Notes
π₯© Choose lean or fattier ground beef based on preference; drain excess grease after browning accordingly.
π₯ Bacon can be omitted for dietary needs, though it adds flavor and texture.
π³ The eggs provide structure and protein; the ratio ensures they bind without an overwhelming egg flavor.
