Description

πŸ… Create a vibrant, restaurant-quality salsa that bursts with fresh flavors and perfectly balanced spices right in your own kitchen
🌢️ Enjoy a versatile homemade condiment that elevates everything from tacos to chips with its authentic taste and customizable heat level

Ingredients

Scale

4 ripe tomatoes

1 red onion

3 garlic cloves

3 jalapeΓ±os

1/3 cup cilantro

3 tablespoons fresh lime juice

23 teaspoons ground cumin

23 teaspoons sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

15 ounces canned crushed tomatoes

4.5 ounces canned diced green chiles

Instructions

1- Start by washing all your fresh produce to ensure everything is clean and ready to go.

2- First, add the fresh tomatoes, onion, garlic, peppers, cilantro, lime juice, cumin, sugar (if you’re using it), and salt to a food processor or blender. Pulse until the mixture is finely blended, creating that perfect base of fresh flavors.

3- Next, incorporate the canned crushed tomatoes and diced green chiles, then puree again until the salsa is mostly smooth but still a bit chunky for texture. Taste and adjust the cumin, sugar, and salt as needed to get it just right. Finally, refrigerate the salsa until it’s chilled and ready to serve, letting those flavors meld together beautifully.

4- For a personal touch, if you don’t have a food processor, use a blender but be careful not to over-blend, or even finely chop everything by hand for a chunkier version. This method works well for seniors who prefer less equipment, and it’s a great way to experiment with flavors while keeping things accessible for all home cooks.

5- When you’re pulsing the ingredients, aim for a consistency that’s not too smooth keeping some chunks adds that homemade feel. If you’re adjusting heat, remember that fresh peppers can vary in spiciness, so start small and build up.

Notes

πŸ… Use the freshest ingredients possible for optimal flavor – ripe tomatoes and fresh cilantro make a huge difference
🌢️ Adjust heat levels by changing pepper types – use mild green chiles for less spice or add habaneros for extra heat
❄️ Store in an airtight container for 10-12 days refrigerated, or freeze up to 4 months for longer preservation
