Ingredients
β 1 pound fresh green beans, ends snapped off
β 8 tablespoons salted butter, divided

β 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
β 3 cloves garlic, minced
β 2 1/2 cups half n half
β 1 teaspoon salt
β 1 teaspoon pepper
β 2 tablespoons flour or cornstarch
β 2 cups fried onions
β 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
1-In a large skillet, melt 4 tablespoons butter and cook chopped onion until caramelized, about 7-8 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook for 4 more minutes, then stir in garlic and transfer to a bowl.
2-Melt the remaining 4 tablespoons butter in the skillet, add flour or cornstarch, and whisk for 2 minutes. Stir in half n half, salt, and pepper, cooking until thickened, about 4-5 minutes.
3-Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and boil green beans for 6-7 minutes; drain and optionally cool in an ice bath.
4-Mix the onion-mushroom mixture into the cream sauce, stir in green beans, and sprinkle with optional Parmesan cheese.
5-Pour into a 9Γ9 inch baking dish and bake for 25 minutes until bubbly, then top with fried onions and bake for 5 more minutes.
