Description

🍥 Enjoy soft, homemade cinnamon rolls made from scratch with simple, wholesome ingredients.
⏳ This recipe takes you through easy steps to create bakery-style rolls perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

– 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more as needed

– 1/4 cup granulated sugar

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 3/4 cup whole milk

– 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

– 2 and 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast

– 1 large egg at room temperature

– 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

– 1/3 cup packed light or dark brown sugar

– 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

– 4 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature

– 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

– 2/3 cup confectioners’ sugar

– 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

1-First, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl to create the dry base. This step ensures even mixing before adding wet ingredients. Heat the milk and butter together until the butter melts and the mixture reaches about 110°F, then whisk in the yeast until it’s fully dissolved.

2-Mixing and Kneading the Dough: Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients, add the egg, and stir until a soft dough forms. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 3 to 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it loosely, and let it rest for 10 minutes to relax the gluten.

3-Roll and Fill: Roll the dough into a 14 by 8-inch rectangle on your floured surface. Spread the softened butter evenly across the top, then mix the brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle it evenly over the butter. Roll the dough tightly into a 14-inch log and cut it into 10 to 12 even rolls, arranging them in a greased 9- or 10-inch pan.

4-Rising and Baking: Cover the pan and let the rolls rise in a warm, draft-free spot for 60 to 90 minutes, or until they’ve doubled in size. Preheat your oven to 375°F and bake the rolls for 24 to 27 minutes, covering with foil if they start browning too quickly. They’re done when the internal temperature hits 195 to 200°F.

5-Prepare the Icing: While the rolls cool slightly, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then add the butter, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla, mixing until combined. Spread this icing over the warm rolls and serve them right away.

Notes

🌡️ Use premium instant yeast and warm milk mixture to activate yeast without killing it.
🔪 Cut rolls with a sharp knife or dental floss to keep rolls intact and prevent squishing.
❄️ Both dough and baked rolls can be frozen at various stages for added convenience.
