Description

🥬 Easy Fried Cabbage is a quick and tasty side dish packed with savory flavors and a buttery-soft texture.
🥓 This recipe combines crispy bacon and smoked paprika with tender caramelized cabbage for a comforting and nutritious accompaniment to any meal.

Ingredients

– 6 pieces of bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces

– 1 small onion, diced

– 3 cloves of garlic, minced

– 2 tablespoons of mustard (either stone ground or Dijon)

– 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

– 1 head of cabbage, sliced and chopped

– Kosher salt to taste

– Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

1-First, cook the 6 pieces of bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces, in a large pan over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set it aside, leaving about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pan.

2-Next, sauté the diced small onion in the bacon grease for 2 to 3 minutes until it becomes translucent.

3-Then, add the 3 cloves of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of mustard, 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste, and stir everything together to combine the flavors.

4-After that, add the sliced and chopped head of cabbage on top and mix well with the other ingredients in the pan.

5-Cook the cabbage for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it becomes buttery soft and slightly caramelized.

6-Finally, return the cooked bacon to the pan, stir everything together, and serve hot. For more ideas, check out this cabbage soup recipe on our blog for a comforting twist on similar flavors.
