Ingredients
– 6 pieces of bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
– 1 small onion, diced
– 3 cloves of garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons of mustard (either stone ground or Dijon)
– 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
– 1 head of cabbage, sliced and chopped
– Kosher salt to taste
– Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
1-First, cook the 6 pieces of bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces, in a large pan over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set it aside, leaving about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the pan.
2-Next, sauté the diced small onion in the bacon grease for 2 to 3 minutes until it becomes translucent.
3-Then, add the 3 cloves of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of mustard, 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste, and stir everything together to combine the flavors.
4-After that, add the sliced and chopped head of cabbage on top and mix well with the other ingredients in the pan.
5-Cook the cabbage for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it becomes buttery soft and slightly caramelized.
