Ingredients

Scale

4 thick slices of white bread, preferably stale

2 eggs

1/4 cup milk

A pinch of salt

1/3 cup white sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

3 tablespoons butter

Maple syrup (optional, for serving)

Instructions

1-Prep: Remove the crusts from the bread slices and cut each slice into three thick batons.

2-Prep: In a large bowl, whisk together 2 eggs, 1/4 cup milk, and a pinch of salt.

3-Prep: On a plate, combine 1/3 cup white sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder.

4-Cook: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large pan over medium-high heat.

5-Cook: Quickly dip the bread sticks into the egg mixture without soaking and shake off the excess.

6-Cook: Cook the sticks in batches, turning each side until golden brown.

7-Cook: Immediately roll the hot bread sticks in the cinnamon sugar mixture so the coating sticks.

8-Cook: Melt the remaining tablespoon of butter to cook the remaining sticks.

9-Serve: Serve immediately with maple syrup if desired.

Notes

🍞 Use stale bread to maintain firmness and prevent sogginess.
πŸ”ͺ Cut thick slices into batons about 1.7 cm thick for the best texture.
🌑️ Roll bread sticks quickly in egg mixture and coat with cinnamon sugar while hot to ensure the coating sticks well.
