Description

🎶 This elegant apple‑rose puff pastry tart offers a fragrant, sweet treat that feels like a musical celebration on a plate.
🍏 Its blend of tender apples, warm spices, and delicate rose water makes it a perfect centerpiece for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

4 large apples, cored and sliced

2 Tbsp lemon juice

¼ cup (≈50 g) brown sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

¼ tsp ground nutmeg

¼ tsp ground allspice

¼ cup (≈30 g) chopped walnuts

¼ cup (≈35 g) raisins

2 Tbsp rose water

1 sheet puff pastry (≈250 g)

¼ cup (≈60 ml) melted butter, plus extra for brushing

Powdered sugar for dusting

Edible silver leaf (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1-Start by preheating the oven to 375 °F (190 °C) to set the stage for baking. In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, walnuts, raisins, and rose water until everything is evenly coated for a flavorful mix. Lay the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and brush it with melted butter to create a golden base.

2-Next, spread the apple mixture lengthwise on the pastry, leaving a small border to avoid overflow during rolling. Fold the long edges toward the center and gently roll the sheet into a log shape, sealing the ends neatly. Transfer the rolled pastry to a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush the top with more melted butter for an even bake.

3-Finally, bake for 30 40 minutes until the pastry turns golden brown and puffs up perfectly. Once done, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly on a wire rack before dusting with powdered sugar and adding edible silver leaf if desired. This method draws from the essence of ‘favorite things meaning explained’, turning simple steps into something truly special.

Notes

🍏 Choose firm apples such as Granny Smith or Pink Lady to retain texture after baking.
🧈 Brush the pastry both before and after baking to ensure an even golden color and extra crispness.
❄️ Leftover pieces reheat well in a hot oven (350 °F/175 °C) for 10 minutes, preserving the flaky layers.
