Description

🍤 Shrimp Pasta with Creamy Mushroom Sauce offers a rich and satisfying meal that combines tender shrimp and savory mushrooms in a luscious cream sauce.
🍝 This dish is perfect for a comforting dinner and pairs beautifully with fettuccine or your favorite pasta for a delicious homemade experience.

Ingredients

– 8 oz fettuccine pasta This forms the base and soaks up the creamy sauce wonderfully, providing a hearty texture

– ½ cup cooked pasta water for adjusting sauce consistency Helps thin the sauce if it gets too thick, adding a silky finish without extra calories

– 2 tablespoons olive oil Used for sautéing, it adds a healthy fat that enhances the flavors of garlic and shrimp

– 1 lb shrimp peeled and deveined The star protein, offering a tender, flavorful bite that’s quick to cook and packed with nutrients

– 3 garlic cloves minced Provides a pungent, aromatic base that infuses the dish with depth and warmth

– ¼ teaspoon dried basil Adds an herbal note that complements the seafood and mushrooms for a fresh taste

– ¼ teaspoon paprika Brings a subtle smokiness and color, enhancing the overall appeal without overpowering other flavors

– ¼ teaspoon salt Balances the dish and brings out the natural tastes of the ingredients for a well-rounded flavor

– ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes Introduces a mild heat that elevates the sauce with a bit of spice

– 8 oz mushrooms thinly sliced Adds an earthy, meaty texture and absorbs the creamy sauce, boosting the vegetable content

– 1 cup half and half Creates the creamy base of the sauce, making it rich and indulgent while keeping it light

– ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese Melts into the sauce for a nutty, savory element that thickens and flavors it perfectly

– ½ cup shredded Mozzarella cheese Adds a stretchy, gooey texture and mild cheese flavor that blends seamlessly with the sauce

Instructions

1-First Step: Cook the 8 oz fettuccine pasta according to package instructions; drain and reserve up to ½ cup of the pasta water if needed. This step ensures your pasta is al dente and ready to absorb the sauce.

2-Second Step: Heat a large skillet over medium heat; add the 2 tablespoons olive oil, 3 minced garlic cloves, and 1 lb peeled and deveined shrimp. Cook the shrimp on one side for about 1 minute until it turns pink, building a flavorful base.

3-Third Step: Turn the shrimp over and season with the ¼ teaspoon dried basil, ¼ teaspoon paprika, ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, and ¼ teaspoon salt. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the shrimp is pink on both sides, then remove from the skillet to avoid overcooking.

4-Fourth Step: In the same skillet, add the 8 oz thinly sliced mushrooms and cook on medium-high heat for about 2 minutes until softened, stirring occasionally and adding a sprinkle of salt midway through for enhanced taste.

5-Fifth Step: Return the cooked 1 lb shrimp to the skillet with the mushrooms. Pour in the 1 cup half and half and bring it to a boil, creating the creamy foundation of the dish.

6-Sixth Step: Add half of the cheese (½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese and ½ cup shredded Mozzarella cheese combined) to the skillet, bring to a boil, then reduce to a medium simmer and stir until the cheese melts for a smooth sauce.

7-Seventh Step: Gradually add the remaining cheese while stirring until the sauce becomes creamy but not too thick. Remove from heat and adjust seasoning with additional salt if needed to perfect the flavor.

8-Final Step: Stir in the cooked 8 oz fettuccine pasta, reheat on medium heat, and stir well. If the sauce is too thick, add the reserved ½ cup pasta water in small amounts while simmering to thin it out, then serve warm.

Notes

🧀 To thicken the cream sauce, add more cheese while liquids are hot.
💧 To thin the cream sauce, gradually add warm reserved pasta water.
🥛 Half and half can be substituted by mixing equal parts milk and heavy cream for similar richness.
