Description

🍊 These Glazed Cranberry Orange Scones combine fresh citrus zest and juicy berries for a bright, flavorful treat.
❄️ The glaze adds a sweet finish to tender, flaky scones perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea.

Ingredients

– 2 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)

– 1/2 cup granulated sugar

– 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 2 teaspoons orange zest (from about 1 orange)

– 1/2 cup frozen unsalted butter

– 1/2 cup heavy cream

– 1 large egg

– 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

– 1 heaping cup frozen cranberries

– 1 tablespoon heavy cream for topping (optional)

– coarse sugar for topping (optional)

– 1 cup confectioners’ sugar for the orange glaze

– 2 to 3 tablespoons fresh orange juice for the orange glaze

Instructions

1-First, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and orange zest in a big bowl. This mix forms the dry base that gives your scones structure and that zesty kick.

2-Next, grate the frozen butter and blend it in until you get pea-sized crumbs, which helps create those layers of flakiness we all love.

3-In another bowl, whisk the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined, then pour this over the dry mixture.

4-Add the cranberries and stir just until everything moistens don’t overdo it to keep the scones tender.

5-Shape the dough into an 8-inch disc on a floured surface, cut it into 8 wedges, brush with heavy cream, sprinkle on coarse sugar if you like, and chill for at least 15 minutes.

6-Preheat your oven to 400Β°F (204Β°C) and bake the scones on a lined sheet for 22 to 25 minutes until they’re golden brown.

7-Once they’re slightly cooled, whisk confectioners’ sugar with orange juice and drizzle the glaze on top for a sweet finish.

Notes

🧈 Use grated frozen butter to create a flaky texture.
❄️ Keep dough chilled to prevent spreading during baking.
🍽️ Avoid over-mixing the dough to maintain tender scones.
