Crab Rangoon

  • Author: Brandi Oshea
  • Total Time: 22-34 minutes depending on cooking method
  • Yield: Approximately 18 crab rangoons
  • Diet: Contains seafood, gluten (wonton wrappers)

Description

🦀 Enjoy the crispy and creamy delight of Crab Rangoon, a perfect appetizer that’s both flavorful and easy to make.
🔥 This recipe offers versatile cooking options—frying, baking, or air frying—to satisfy your texture preference while keeping it delicious.

Ingredients

– 5 ounces drained crab meat for fresh seafood flavor

– 4 ounces softened cream cheese for creamy filling

– 1 finely sliced green onion for freshness

– 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce for savory depth

– 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional) to enhance umami taste

– ½ teaspoon garlic powder for aromatic kick

– 18 wonton wrappers for crispy outer layer

– Oil for frying for golden, crunchy finish

Instructions

1-First, heat 1 inch of oil to 325°F over medium heat in a deep pan.

2-Gently combine 5 ounces of drained crab meat, 4 ounces of softened cream cheese, 1 finely sliced green onion, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon soy sauce if using, and ½ teaspoon garlic powder in a bowl.

3-Next, place about 2 teaspoons of filling in the center of each of the 18 wonton wrappers. Dab the edges with water, fold them into a triangle, and then fold the tips inward to seal tightly. This step is crucial to prevent leaks during cooking, as recommended for the best fried Crab Rangoon.

4-Once ready, deep fry the wontons in batches for 2-3 minutes until they turn golden and crispy, then drain them on paper towels.

5-For alternatives, bake at 425°F for 12-14 minutes after spraying with cooking spray, or air fry at 370°F for 7-9 minutes after spraying.

Notes

🦀 Use well-drained crab meat to avoid soggy wontons.
👋 Seal wrappers tightly and avoid overfilling to prevent leaks.
❄️ Wontons freeze well; reheat in an air fryer to keep them crispy.
