Description

🍞 Transform leftover cinnamon rolls into an indulgent breakfast that’s crispy on the outside and custardy on the inside
🥛 Perfect weekend brunch treat that combines the best of cinnamon rolls and French toast in one delicious bite

Ingredients

– 5 leftover baked and cooled cinnamon rolls

– 4 large eggs

– 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream or whole milk

– 1 tablespoon (12.5 g) granulated sugar

– 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract

– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

– 2 tablespoons (28 g) unsalted butter for cooking

– Maple syrup to taste

– Powdered sugar for dusting

– Fresh fruit such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or bananas

– Brown sugar a sprinkle for added sweetness

– Cream cheese glaze as desired

– Nutella for a chocolatey twist

– Whipped cream to top it off

Instructions

1-First, take your 5 leftover baked and cooled cinnamon rolls and slice each one in half horizontally. In a large bowl, whisk together 4 large eggs, 1/2 cup (120 ml) of heavy cream or whole milk, 1 tablespoon (12.5 g) granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon until smooth. This custard mixture coats the cinnamon rolls perfectly, soaking in all that flavor.

2-Next, dip each halved cinnamon roll into the egg mixture, making sure both sides are evenly coated. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons (28 g) of unsalted butter to melt. Place the coated rolls in the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and slightly crisp.

3-Once done, serve warm with your choice of toppings like fresh fruit or maple syrup. This yields about 5 servings, making it great for sharing. For more ideas on breakfast dishes, explore our ham and cheese hash brown casserole.

Notes

🍞 Use day-old cinnamon rolls for best results – they’ll absorb the custard mixture better without falling apart
🥚 Don’t soak the cinnamon rolls too long in the egg mixture or they’ll become soggy – just a quick dip is perfect
🍁 For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom to the egg mixture along with the cinnamon
