Ingredients
1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1 cup (about 140g) toffee bits
1/2 to 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
1 can (14 oz / 396g) sweetened condensed milk
Optional: 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan.
2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter, and egg; mix until thick batter or crumbly mixture forms.
3. Press about two-thirds of the batter evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
4. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust.
5. Sprinkle toffee bits and optional chocolate chips evenly over the condensed milk.
6. Crumble remaining batter evenly on top.
7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the bars are golden brown around edges and set; center may be slightly gooey.
8. Let cool completely before slicing into bars.
