Ingredients
– 12 ounces pasta shells
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 2 tablespoons butter
– 1 yellow onion, diced
– 6 cloves garlic, chopped
– 1 pound ground chicken (optional)
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 24 ounces tomato basil sauce
– 1 cup heavy whipping cream
– 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
– 4 ounces Burrata cheese
– Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
1-Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta shells and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup pasta water, then drain.
2-Sauté aromatics: Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil and 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat in a large skillet. Add the diced yellow onion and sauté for 3-5 minutes until translucent.
3-Add garlic and chicken: Stir in 6 cloves chopped garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. If using, add 1 pound ground chicken and cook for 8-10 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.
4-Build the sauce: Stir in 24 ounces tomato basil sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5-Finish the sauce: Remove from heat. Stir in 1 cup heavy whipping cream and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Adjust seasoning and thin with reserved pasta water if needed.
6-Combine and serve: Toss cooked pasta shells with the sauce. Garnish with torn 4 ounces Burrata cheese and fresh basil. Serve immediately for peak creaminess.
