Ingredients

– 1 cup granulated white sugar

– 1/4 cup water

– 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream at room temperature or warmer

– 1/4 cup butter at room temperature

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

– 2 tablespoons bourbon or preferred whiskey

– 1 teaspoon fine sea salt


Instructions

1-In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar with 1/4 cup water and stir briefly to start the process.

2-Heat over medium-high heat without stirring until the sugar caramelizes and reaches a deep amber color; remove from heat right away to avoid burning.

3-Slowly whisk in 1/2 cup of room temperature heavy cream the mixture will bubble, so take care.

4-Add 1/4 cup of butter and whisk until itโ€™s fully melted and incorporated for that creamy texture.

5-Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons bourbon, and 1 teaspoon fine sea salt until everything blends into a smooth sauce.

6-Serve it hot or let it cool to room temperature before storing in a sealed container in the fridge.
